We are excited to announce that tickets for our upcoming production of Heathers: The Musical are now available!

Based on the classic 1989 film, Heathers: The Musical is a darkly hilarious, high-energy show filled with attitude, heart, and a whole lot of havoc. Westerburg High is ruled by a shoulder-padded, scrunchie-wearing junta: Heather, Heather and Heather, the hottest and cruellest girls in all of Ohio. But misfit Veronica Sawyer rejects their evil regime for a new boyfriend, the dark and sexy stranger J.D., who plans to put the Heathers in their place - six feet under.

Kurt’s Dad: Straight-laced, very conservative, and also a former football player. A simple guy, not

book smart, you’d be happy to share a beer with him.

Veronica’s Dad: Easygoing and distant.

Principal Gowan: Rumpled, burned out, hates conflict.

The performer must be comfortable with some intimacy with the character of Ram’s Dad (on-stage kiss).

Ram’s Dad/Big Bud Dean/Coach Ripper

Character Age 30 to 50

Ram’s Dad: Former football player turned suburban Dad, has never outgrown his glory days in high school. Hates weakness, but is capable of soul-searching when tragedy strikes.

Big Bud Dean, JD’s single Dad: Big, jolly personality that barely conceals the enormous rage bubbling just below the surface. Quite possibly a serial bomber.

Coach Ripper: Stalwart, man’s man; quick to defend his players.

Two Theatre Groups Team Up For Their Next Production

We have some exciting news! The Oakville Players are delighted to announce a special co-production in collaboration with Connect Theatre. Get ready for a thrilling performance of Heathers The Musical !

This is the first joint effort for both Connect Theatre , based in Dundas, and The Oakville Players, and and we can’t wait to embark on this incredible journey together with you.

Heathers The Musical will be on stage this December, and we promise an unforgettable experience filled with talent, music, and drama.

On behalf of the entire cast, crew, and board thank all those who took the time to listen to our presentation of Bram Stoker's Dracula! Special thanks if you also attended our finale last weekend!

Some of you know this was our first-ever mini-series and podcast production in our 61-year history.

As much as we'd prepared ourselves for what the last 4 months were going to look like embarking on a project of this sort, we could not have come out on the other side without the total dedication and incredible contribution from our cast and crew, beginning with our talented director/writer/editor, Robin Sadavoy.

We also knocked it out of the park assembling our brilliant performers for this production. It was an absolute joy listening to them take the words off the page and into our ears. We are immensely grateful to Tina Aurora, Duncan Cairns, Robert Harrower, Muneer Malik-Noor, Kenneth Sergienko, and Heather Smith and look forward to collaborating with them again!

I have just one tiny favour to ask you. We would appreciate your honest feedback about your experience taking in this series. Whether you were only able to catch the online episodes or also watched the in-person series finale, I want to hear from you.

And so I invite you to complete our online survey to help us better understand how we did, and where we could improve. Your feedback will help shape ideas for future productions.

Radio Play Episode will be releases this month!

Everyone's heard of Dracula, but do you know the original tale that started the legend? Experience the Bram Stoker novel, adapted as a 10-episode radio play mini-series!

The first of 10 episodes will be available in less than one week! Beginning September 18 episodes will be released twice weekly.

The first 9 episodes will be presented as podcasts (audio only) and available online for FREE. Enjoy them at your pace in preparation for the Series Finale which will be presented live and in-person on October 27, 28, and 29, 2023.

Once you sign up you will automatically be sent reminders of each episode's release date and they'll remain available 24/7 leading up to the finale so you can enjoy them at your leisure!

We Are Trying Something New!

The Oakville Players Presents Dracula: A Radio Play Mini-Series

We are thrilled to announce we have begun rehearsals for our fall 2023 production. Though we known for our radio plays, this time around we are trying something a little different. Firstly, the event we have in mind is a mini-series featuring 10 episodes that are scheduled to be released over several weeks.

The firs t 9 episodes will be releases twice a week as an audio only program where, listeners can enjoy the the story unfold at their own pace. The twist is the Series Finale (10th episode) will only (for the time being) be presented live and in person!

For those that live too far away far away, would need to wait awhile. We'll also produce a podcast version of the finale and release it sometime later in the year.

Dracula: A Radio Play Mini-Series is based on the original novel by Bram Stoker, penned over 125 years ago. Our director, Robin Sadavoy, adapted the story for our production.

Episode 1 is slated to be releases this September 2023. Stay tuned for more details soon.

Remembering John Marlatt

We bid farewell to John Marlatt.

We are very sorry to learn of John's unexpected passing in the early hours of Monday morning on July 24th. As many of you know John was the owner of the Moonshine Cafe where he provided unwavering support for musicians and performing artists since 2006.

When we approached John last year to host our Top 10 Comeback Festival, the first show back since the pandemic closures, he did so without hesitation. We sincerely appreciated him letting us call the Moonshine Cafe home that weekend, including taking over his parking lot!

Our condolences to his family (including his wife, Jane, and son, Dan) his friends, and his fans.

In an effort to reduce our overhead costs, we have decided to purge our large storage unit of most of its contents. Funds raised selling items will be used offset the costs of clearing out of the storage unit, truck rental and disposal fees. We hope to avoid shipping the items to a landfill site and instead give our goodies new homes!

Remembering Jim Curley

It is with profound sadness that we share the news of the sudden passing of our friend Jim Curley earlier this month.

Jim first joined the world of community theatre in 2009, where I recall meeting him for the first time during West End Studio Theatre's production of Hair .

Jim's first show with The Oakville Players dates back to 2014 during our production of Colours in the Storm where he graced the stage once again. We welcomed him back several times since then in a number of one act plays and a radio play.

Jim was also often found backstage in various capacities. We last collaborated with Jim when he directed our last two radio plays, Clue (2019) & Home Alone (2018).

On behalf of all of us here at The Oakville Players, our condolences to his friends and family, especially Kerri.

A Celebration of Life for Jim will be held on Monday August 8, 2022 at Joshua Creek Heritage Art Centre (1086 Burnhamthorpe Road East Oakville, Ontario L6H 7B2) from 7-9 pm

Nestor Woroniuk passes away

We are saddened to inform you of the recent passing of Nestor Woroniuk on Thursday, March 10, 2022, at the age of 81.

Nestor was a long-standing member of The Oakville Players helping build many of our sets. TOP had the pleasure of collaborating with him on "Gibson & Sons" (2016) and "Picasso at the Lapin Agile" (2017) among many others spanning nearly a decade.

On behalf of all of us at The Oakville Players, we'd like to express our sincerest condolences to his wife Olga, children Lesia (Carlo) and Michael (Rebecca), his grandchildren Maxwell & Matteo and all his friends.

Comeback Festival: Call For Submissions

The Oakville Players is heading back to the stage!

Well, it looks like Covid-19 keeps upstaging plans for everybody including us. This is why we've remained cautious yet optimistic with our plans to return to the stage. Just as well since the wake of the latest virus strain is forcing capacity limits to once again be a moving target.

By now you have probably already figured out our March 2022 production is not happening. Instead, we've decided to make our way back further into the new year in a way that provides us with options to pivot if the climate warrants it.

The good news is we can spend our time focusing on our other tradition - The One-Act Festival! Yes, it's back but with a twist!

To start things off, we are excited to announce our call for submissions for the TOP 10 Comeback Festival to be presented in May 2022.

We are opening up opportunities for newcomers and seasoned theatre lovers alike to submit 10 minutes scripts or show ideas. These will be presented in front of a live audience, and also streamed & recorded live to an online one.

Despite how disruptive the global pandemic has been for us, we remain confident we'll get back to where we left off, in part because of organizations like The OTF. We are thankful of their ongoing support of the non-profit sector.

Join our very own online community!

Right on the heels of the recent launch of this website is the release of our very first community website. This second website site was designed to not only make it easy for you to sign up for or renew a membership, but it's also a place for all of us to connect, when we can't in person.

Since we spend so much time online (and way more the last 16 months), having a home online for our members and fans is an essential way to help us grow and support our theatre community.

Rather than spoil you with the details, why not take a look for yourself? In fact, while you are at it, please go ahead and sign up for a membership :)! If you aren't ready to join as a full member, we even have a free Fan Club option with limited access but enough to stay in touch!

To get you started, there are a series of bite sized video walkthroughs to demonstrate just how easy it is to sign up and use the website.

Despite being closed to any theatre production, we have remained busy these last several months. Our biggest task this year is the building and launching of two websites. The first one as you see here, is home to evidence of our long standing tradition of presenting live theatre in Oakville and surrounding cities. We encourage you to take a look around and stay awhile.

There is still an abundance of memorabilia that will be added as we continue scanning newspaper articles and photos but we could not wait any longer to show you what we have so far. If you have old photos or anything you'd like us to add to our website, feel free to reach out to us. As you will soon see, we have little to no documentation of our yearly years dating back to the 1960's.

Our second website will soon launch as well. This site will be home to our online community where you can connect with other members, be kept up to date on announcements (like auditions) and participate in courses or workshops. Stay tuned for more in the coming weeks. Until then we invite you to visit this site often!

Our 2020 - 2021 Season is cancelled

Less than one week after our only production in 2020. The government of Ontario initiated its first of several shutdown orders to fight the spread of Covid-19.
